More Camp Details

Swim - We will swim in a 25 meter pool in the Silverthorne Recreation Center where Coach Kurt will provide swim stroke analysis (with videotaping) and we will practice open water swimming (OWS) in North Pond, located in Silverthorne. During the OWS practices, we will have experienced triathletes swimming with you and in kayaks nearby. We will practice siting while swimming as well as swimming around a buoy to mimic the race experience. We will practice putting on a wetsuit and taking it off quickly as you would in a race.

Bike - We will be riding some amazing routes! The rides in the road triathlon camps will be on the road and on a bike path and for the off-road camps, they will be on trails. Both camps will include learning basic bike maintenance, bike fit, and tire changing options. We will have experienced cyclists riding with the group(s) and have sag support for flat tires, inclement weather, or tired riders on all road rides. We recommend bringing your own bike but if you can't, we can help you rent one from a local bike shop (we will get you to and from the shop for rental and help with bike fit).

Run - The running portion of the road tri camp will be on a local recreational path that borders Lake Dillon and in the off-road camps, the runs will all be on trail. You'll learn strategic skills to improve your run training and all about fueling your runs to optimize performance.

Transitions - This is the fourth component to triathlon training and one that is often neglected! We will practice setting up T1 and T2 and how to shave minutes off your transition times.

Because we limit our camps to only 8 people, you will get lots of 1:1 time with both Kurt and Cindy!

Lodging - We have two rooms available (one with king bed and one with queen bed) that are first come first serve ($100/night and includes breakfast) and we may have other places available too. Please contact us if you are interested in these rooms or need help finding accommodations.

Requirements - These camps are designed for beginner to intermediate triathletes. To participate in the camp, we expect that you are able to:

  • swim 500 yards comfortably

  • open water experience preferred but not mandatory

  • bike two hours comfortably

  • run a 5k
